Top 3 Locations for Engagement & Wedding Photography in Sydney

Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities in the world so it’s no wonder why so many couples choose Sydney for their engagement and wedding photos. Having lived in Australia for over 20 years, I’ve discovered some of the best locations and hidden gems for capturing beautiful, memorable photographs.

Here are my top 3 locations for engagement and wedding photography in Sydney:

Sydney Harbour

Sydney is known for its stunning beaches, breathtaking harbour views, and historical landmarks. But nothing says Sydney quite like the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and its skyline. Iconic backdrop for beautiful photographs that instantly capture the beauty and character of Sydney.

Some of my favourite spots are The Rocks, Observatory Hill, Campbell Cove, and Royal Botanical Garden. If you feel like having a different angle, you can cross to the northern part of the bridge to Kirribilli and Luna Park.

The good thing about Sydney Harbour is, you don’t really need to be in close proximity to the harbour itself. Milk Beach and Camp Cove Beach on the Eastern Suburbs are perfect for afternoon sunset glow with city skyline combo.

Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains are made for couples who want their engagement and wedding photographs to feel adventurous and connected to nature. Dramatic mountain views, lush forests, sandstone cliffs, and sweeping valleys create an unforgettable backdrop for romantic portraits and candid moments, making it perfect for elopements too.

There are so many beautiful locations to choose from that it’s hard to pick a favourite. Waldara Farm and Long Alley Barn, just to name a few, are both incredible options for wedding and engagement photography.

If you love colour, autumn is especially beautiful in parts of the Blue Mountains. After visiting the mountains over the years, I’ve found that the colours tend to reach their peak from mid to late April, making it a gorgeous time for an engagement session or wedding photography.

Southern Highlands

Just outside Sydney, the Southern Highlands offers a peaceful countryside setting with rolling hills, beautiful gardens, historic estates and rustic charm. It is perfect for couples looking for a wedding that feels intimate, relaxed and romantic — almost like a destination wedding without travelling too far.

Southern Highland is also home to some historic chapels.

If you’re looking for some rustic aesthetic with a touch of contemporary feel, you can’t look pass Bendooley Estate. For classic and elegance, Peppers Manor House can be a solid option.
